This compact plasma sputtering coater is specially designed for applying conductive gold films to SEM samples and is versatile for metallic coatings, including gold, platinum, and silver, featuring a 2" gold (4N) target included as part of its specifications. It operates on 220 VAC 50/60Hz power, drawing 200W, and has a total power consumption, including the vacuum pump, of less than 1000W. The coater provides an output voltage of 500 VDC and offers adjustable sputtering current ranging from 0 to 50 mA, equipped with a digital current meter and over-current protection. It allows for customizable sputtering times, ranging from 1 to 120 seconds.

The specimen chamber is constructed from quartz glass, measuring 165 mm OD x 152 mm ID x 145 mm, while the specimen stage supports 2" diameter samples with height adjustability from 30 to 80 mm relative to the target. The coater is equipped with a 2" magnetron sputtering head featuring a manually operated shutter for target protection. Vacuum pressure is monitored via a digital vacuum pressure meter (Pa) and a KF25 vacuum pump connector, with an ultimate vacuum pressure of 1 Pa achievable using a mechanical pump (not included).

The coater provides gas input capability through a 1/4 Swagelok type tube fitting for inert gas cylinder connection, with a front-panel metering valve for gas input adjustment. It comes with a 50mm Dia. x 0.12mm gold target, and optional targets are available, including gold, platinum, and silver. However, the coater is not suitable for coating lightweight metallic materials such as aluminum, magnesium, zinc, or carbon targets due to its lower energy output. In terms of dimensions, the coater measures L 460 mm × W 330 mm × H 520 mm and weighs 20kg. It is backed by a one-year limited warranty with lifetime support, making it a reliable choice for SEM sample coating applications.
